The Document Processing Module
This module is mandatory in the workflow when scanning. It processes the scan files stored by the device in the technical scan folder and performs file format conversions – and depending on the file type selected, it also performs the OCR operation. Without this module, the scan file is always the TIFF file created by Scanning module on the device (the scan settings Format and File Separation are then not available for the user on the device).

The module can occur several times in the workflow.

The module can be connected to all modules (this can result in nonsensical workflows).

No restrictive modules.

Default setting: Defines which setting should be preset for the user. It must be one of the activated selectable settings.
Selectable settings: Specifies which selection options should be offered to the user on the device.

User options:
- Allow user to change setting: When this option is enabled, the user can select from the options specified under Selectable Settings on the device. If this option is not activated, the option set under Default Setting is set and cannot be changed (the field is grayed out in the interface).
- Visible: Determines whether the setting is visible to the user. If not, the option specified under Default Setting is always used.

Default setting: Defines which setting should be preset for the user. It must be one of the activated selectable settings.
Selectable settings: Specifies which selection options should be offered to the user on the device.
- Off: File separation is switched off, all pages scanned together in the document feeder are stored in one file. This does not work if the file format cannot contain several pages or with any image formats (e.g. TIFF, JPG).
- Number of pages: File separation is active and saves the specified number of pages in one file (e.g. if 6 pages are scanned and 2 pages is selected, this results in 3 files with 2 pages each). B/W TIFF documents are compressed using LZW.

JPEG quality lets you specify the quality of JPEG files embedded in PDF files. Consequently, this setting only affects PDF files. This setting also allows you to influence the size of the resulting PDF file.
Default setting: Defines which setting should be preset for the user. It must be one of the activated selectable settings.
Selectable settings: Specifies which selection options should be offered to the user on the device. The higher the quality percentage, the larger the resulting file will be (not proportional).
- 50%
- 75%
- 90%
- 100%
User options:
- Allow user to change setting: When this option is enabled, the user can select from the options specified under Selectable Settings on the device. If this option is not activated, the option set under Default Setting is set and cannot be changed (the field is grayed out in the interface).
- Visible: Determines whether the setting is visible to the user. If not, the option specified under Default Setting is always used.

Similar to the Combine function when copying, this function allows two pages to be scanned vertically and reduced in size to a landscape page.
Default setting: Defines which setting should be preset for the user. It must be one of the activated selectable settings.
Selectable settings: Specifies which selection options should be offered to the user on the device.
- Off: Two on One is off, the pages remain unchanged.
- On: Two pages are displayed vertically and reduced in size on a landscape page side by side.

The PDF file format allows a file to be password protected. This setting is ignored for other file formats. The password is required to open the PDF file.
- Password: You can already preset a password for this workflow. The content of the password can also come from a variable (e.g. from zone OCR). The password can be created or changed by the user on the device as far as the following user options allow this.
According to the PDF definition, password protection is not possible for any archive formats (PDF/A...).

The ImageService processes image data (e.g. from scans) and performs file format conversions, image optimization and the OCR function. It stores files in desired destination directories (depending on the module used, the rights of the user executing its application pool are used for this purpose). Its log file is Logs\ImageService.log.
